Kazimierz Rozbicki, Głos Koszaliński, Sept. 17, 1996

(…)Joanna Marcinkowska’s recital was sensational, and in my view unique in the entire history of the Słupsk festival. Her outstanding talent for music, imagination, unfailing intuition and a marvelous mastery of the piano-playing skills, as well as her tasteful and refined performances combine to make up an agreeable and fully mature artistic personality. The pieces which she played (Polonaise in E flat Minor, Waltz in A flat Major, op. 42, and Scherzo in B flat Minor by Chopin, and Tarantella and Paraphrase of a theme from Verdi’s opera Rigoletto by Liszt) sounded alive and gratifying—I would say “perfect” if this adjective did not suggest a certain coldness. Joanna Marcinkowska’s performances were warm, spontaneous and intrinsically harmonious, emphasizing with their masterful simplicity and obviousness the drama of the Polonaise and the Scherzo, the Biedermeier elegance of the Waltz, and the virtuosity of Liszt’s compositions.
